MTNL Loses Nearly 0.17 Million Customers In May (22-Jun-2012)
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) has lost nearly 0.17 million customers in May. Consequently, the company's total customer base plunged to 5.31 million from 5.48 million in April. Besides, Bharti Airtel has added 2.01 million subscribers in May while, Idea Cellular has added 1.75 million mobile subscribers in May.
MTNL was set up by the Government of India to upgrade the quality of telecom services, expand the telecom network, and introduce new services and to raise revenue for telecom development needs of India's key metros -- Delhi and Mumbai.
